The mission of the Litigation Counsel of America Foundation is to seek justice and equality on behalf of all people engaged in the American legal system, to help provide universal access to the law, to advance diversity in the practice and profession of law, and to promote and advance the public interest. The Foundation is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization whose affairs we designed to be managed by trustees and officers selected by the Foundation Committee. The Foundation will be funded in part by Litigation Counsel of America, LLC, the operating entity of the LCA, and by gifts and bequests of persons both affiliated with or independent of the LCA.
Our system of jurisprudence faces challenges each day, and often entangled within the system are individuals whose freedoms and futures hang in the balance. A truly just society should be aware that the rights of those stricken by poverty, lacking in achievement, or who have limitations beyond the average citizen stand on equal ground with citizens from all socio-economic, racial, religious, political or other points of origin strata making up the bedrock of this great country. The Foundation will actively engage in building support of fundamental and philosophical approaches to provide equal protection and due process within our legal system, and seek to make social status in our society subordinate to the goal of achieving justice. The LCA maintains that for anyone in our society to suffer injustice, is for us all to suffer injustice.
Since diversity is a cornerstone of the LCA’s triad approach to recognition of excellence, another pursuit of the Foundation will be to ensure equality within the practice of law as well. As the numbers of women and minorities in the legal profession increase each year, our bar must adjust in relation as well. Through education and awareness, the Foundation will seek to influence the administration of justice and equality. In addition, the Foundation will tackle challenges in any court where change has become a necessity of justice. The Foundation will serve as a fluid resource for the overall pursuit of justice and equality, and will act as a funding entity to those who may implement or contribute meaningfully to the Foundation’s mission.
