This publication of the LCA will be a monthly online resource and bulletin for Fellows and Associate Fellows who desire to be heard on current legal issues. It promises to be both beneficial and controversial. The subject matter of a commentary may be any legal issue, past or present, providing it is not defamatory or inflammatory toward an individual or group, or is inconsistent or incompatible with the LCA’s diversity policy. For example, a poignant rant about a court rule or ruling is publishable, provided no individual is overtly disparaged or damaged. Hate speech, personal attacks on lawyers or judges, back-door criticism of individuals and other identifiable attempts of such nature will not be published. Attacks on issues such as the Class Action Fairness Act, the confinement of political prisoners or the unfairness of Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 12(b) are open for comment.
Commentaries may be real time publications online once accepted. Commentaries meeting the prerequisites for publication in the Journal of Court may be included in the Journal as well. Publication of a commentary may be included in the biographies of members. To increase firm value, the LCA will acknowledge publication of commentaries in its Web site and respond to media inquiries upon request.
