Program Overview

The economic effects of Covid-19 have been widespread and significant. Our economy as a whole and various industries continue to grapple with the changes the shutdown has wrought, both directly and indirectly. Some industries have come through, some are still struggling and some have even benefited. What does all this mean going forward for your clients and the financial experts you need? In this presentation, Mike, Brent and Sharon will discuss overall economic trends, specific industry trends and observations, and how all that may come into play in determining financial damages and business valuations.

Speakers

Mike Costello
Mike has more than 35 years of experience in business valuations, business acquisitions and divestitures, exit planning and related fields. His experience includes extensive consulting work & testimony in tax, accounting, financial, economic & business issues of commercial litigation with emphasis on business valuation, economic damage & forensic accounting issues. He provides expert testimony in lost profit, fraud, bankruptcy, personal injury, wrongful death, wrongful termination & marital dissolution. He is qualified to serve as an expert witness in U.S. District, Circuit & Chancery Courts and has been appointed by the Hamilton CTY Circuit Court as a Special Master and Custodian to liquidate a business; by the Hamilton CTY Chancery Court as a Custodian/Receiver to manage and sell a medical practice; and by a Federal Bankruptcy Trustee to sell a business. His appraisals have been used in various courts and in connection with buy-and-sell transactions between corporate shareholders.
Sharon Hamrick
Sharon Hamrick focuses on commercial litigation support, consulting and forensic accounting. She has extensive experience providing consulting services to attorneys regarding financial issues, financial analysis and preparation of expert reports for state and federal courts. Sharon’s reporting experience relates to litigation matters including financial damages, contract disputes, breach of contract, manufacturing & supply disputes, wrongful termination, personal injury and wrongful death. She is well-versed in forensic accounting matters, including those related to the deterrence and investigation of suspicions of corporate fraud. She provides fraud risk assessments and suggestions for strengthening internal control systems and procedures, particularly for closely-held businesses. Sharon has investigated allegations of fraud in numerous businesses including medical practices, manufacturing, construction and check-cashing entities.
Brent McDade
With more than 25 years of experience in the fields of business valuation and economic damages, Brent provides valuation, litigation support, and transaction advisory services to companies in a variety of industries. His experience includes valuation services related to buy-sell agreements, employee stock ownership plans, estate and gift tax matters, fairness opinions, financial statement reporting, marital dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions and shareholder disputes. Brent specializes in the appraisal of equity securities, debt instruments and derivatives and also serves as an expert witness in disputes regarding business valuation and economic damages in state and federal courts. He is a noted presenter and speaker on the subjects of business valuation and economic damages. His speaking credits include presentations before the Institute of Business Appraisers, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
