Amelia Williams Koch – most call her Mimi – served as the 2006-2007 President of the Litigation Counsel of America. She is a shareholder in the New Orleans office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of employment, antitrust, health law and commercial litigation. Ms. Koch has substantial experience in all facets of employment litigation and counseling. Her antitrust experience has focused on the healthcare industry: formation of provider networks, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, joint purchasing plans and information sharing parameters. She has also done antitrust audits and compliance programs; analyzed antitrust issues attendant to business organization formation; and handled antitrust litigation and counseling. She also handles various types of commercial litigation in federal and state courts.
Ms. Koch has been an active community servant with much of her efforts geared toward historic preservation. She serves on the boards of several New Orleans organizations dedicated to the conservation of the historic legacy of New Orleans and has in the past served as a fundraiser and volunteer for several others. After Hurricane Katrina, she assisted various clean-up groups and hosted several groups of volunteers who flocked to New Orleans from around the country to assist with New Orleans’ post-Katrina recovery.
Ms. Koch received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia in 1980 and went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1983.
Ms. Koch has been active in the Louisiana State Bar Association. She has served on and chaired the Client Protection Fund Committee; currently is on the Council of the Antitrust Section and is a past chair of that Section; is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section; and for the last several years has been on the Louisiana Bar Journal Editorial Board. She belongs to the American Bar Association where she is active on several sections. She is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association and earlier served on the Board of that group. Ms. Koch is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Louisiana Hospital Association. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Louisiana Bar Foundation. She is a member of the Federal Bar Association and a Past President of the New Orleans Chapter. Ms. Koch is also a member of the Federalist Society and is on the Executive Committee of the New Orleans Chapter.
