LCA Senior Fellow Michael D. Ehrenstein, founder of the international business litigation boutique, EhrensteinǀSager, in Coral Gables, Florida, was the 2022 President of the Litigation Counsel of America.

His business clients know Mr. Ehrenstein as the consummate trial lawyer, widely recognized for obtaining remarkable results in complex commercial litigation across a broad range of industries, including aerospace, real estate, healthcare, and transportation.

Mr. Ehrenstein has appeared in state and federal courts throughout the United States and has litigated and arbitrated issues from around the globe. More recently, Mr. Ehrenstein’s practice focused on defending foreign sovereign entities from claims brought in the United States. For example, Mr. Ehrenstein recently successfully defended the Republic of Angola against billion-dollar claims in the energy sector based on alleged wrongful expropriation in violation of international law.

Mr. Ehrenstein’s deep martial arts background provides a philosophical and practical framework for the creative litigation strategies he develops. He regularly presents lectures gleaning lessons from the dojo for practical application in trial, including:

As a Barrister of the Order of Justitia, he has tried to verdict, final judgment or award over 100 cases. Mr. Ehrenstein is also the treasurer of the Complex Commercial Litigation Institute. Mr. Ehrenstein is AV Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®. Mr. Ehrenstein is passionate about karate, boating, and fishing, and most of all, his wife, Theresa, their four children, Mikey, Nick, Mikaela, and Noa, and their golden retriever, Kylie Rose.
