Fairmont

The 2016 Spring Conference & Celebration of Fellows will be held April 20-22 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona.  The conference is designed for Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America to enhance their already superior trial skills, to address practical issues and topics challenging litigators in today’s changing legal environment, and to afford each individual the opportunity to hear from and interact with some of North America’s finest trial and appellate lawyers.

A portion of the program will be presented by the rotating faculty of the Trial Law Institute and will count toward its Trial Master Certification, contemporaneously with CLE credits.

Participants will be provided with advanced tools for continued success and expertise in trial techniques, evidence presentation, courtroom technology, case evaluations and marketing, as well as negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.  New Fellows of the LCA will be formally inducted into the society during the black tie Celebration of Fellows Gala on Thursday, April 21.  The conference will also give Fellows the opportunity to network with other distinguished attorneys from across North America and enjoy the beauty and charm of the “west’s most western town.”

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

Scottsdale, Arizona has been described as the desert version of Miami’s South Beach, making it a perfect destination for those looking for sunshine and sophistication when vacationing out west.  This city not only has a gorgeous desert backdrop, but a bustling downtown area with high-end shopping and world-class restaurants.

Scottsdale is continually ranked as one of the premier golf and resort destinations in the world.  If golf is not your game, consider an extravagant spa experience as Scottsdale boast more spas per capita than any other city in the country.  Scottsdale is nestled in the Sonoran Desert where there are many hiking trails in the outskirts of the city, ranging from easy to challenging.

No trip to Scottsdale would be complete without experiencing Taliesin West, famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and school from 1937 until 1959, which has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Arizona.  The complex is located in the northeast fringe of the city, at the base of the McDowell Mountains.

The Scottsdale Arts District located in Downtown Scottsdale, adjacent to Old Town, has a very high concentrations of galleries, studios and museums that are open to the public.  The Scottsdale Arts District can be segmented into three distinct districts.  The largest is the Scottsdale Main Street Arts District, home to the largest and most diverse collection of styles and genres, the more contemporary Marshall Way Arts District, and Old Town, the more touristy and western-themed district.

The 2016 LCA Spring Open will be held at The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.  The annual scramble will begin with a double tee start at 7:40 AM.

The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale

Home to the PGA TOUR’s fan-favorite Waste Management Phoenix Open, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale has hosted some of contemporary golf’s greatest moments since opening in 1986.  The course was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf specifically to serve as the stage for the tournament – what’s now become the largest spectator golf event in the world.

Lush fairways surrounded by desert vegetation and breathtaking mountain views enhance the golf experience on this 18 hole, par 71 course.  One of the most dramatic holes on the TPC Stadium Course is the 15th hole.  It is a reachable par-5 with water surrounding an island green, with bunkers in the front of the green and a lake to the left it creates an interesting challenge for all.  Throughout the rest of the course, players will find an ideally balanced layout that blends challenge and playability while appealing to all levels of ability.

Please note that the tee times are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the high demand for tee times, reservations must be made no later than March 23.  Due to financial commitments made to the resort by the LCA, cancellations received on or after March 24, 2016, are nonrefundable.
