2016 Fall Conference & Celebration of Fellows

OCTOBER 19-21, 2016
Amelia Island, Florida

The 2016 Fall Conference & Celebration of Fellows will be held October 19-21 at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida.  The conference is designed for Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America to enhance their already superior trial skills, to address practical issues and topics challenging litigators in today’s changing legal environment, and to afford each individual the opportunity to hear from and interact with North America’s finest trial and appellate lawyers.

A portion of the program will be presented by the rotating faculty of the Trial Law Institute and will count toward its Trial Master Certification, contemporaneously with CLE credits.

Participants will be provided with advanced tools for continued success and expertise in trial techniques, evidence presentation, courtroom technology, case evaluations and marketing, as well as negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.  New Fellows of the LCA will be formally inducted into the society during the black tie Celebration of Fellows Gala on Thursday, October 20.  The conference will also give Fellows the opportunity to network with other distinguished attorneys from across North America, earn CLE credit and enjoy the beauty and charm of Amelia Island.

Located just off the coast of northeast Florida, Amelia Island is a unique paradise among the chain of barrier islands that stretches along the east coast from South Carolina to Florida.  With 13 miles of beautiful beaches, abundant native wildlife, and pristine waters, this barrier island has long been a beloved destination for visitors and residents alike.  Amelia Island is edged with natural Appalachian quartz beaches and framed by sand dunes, some as high as 40 feet.  For the outdoor enthusiasts, Amelia Island offers kayaking and canoeing adventures, sunset cruises, fishing charters and tours and natural trails, as well as abundant natural wildlife.

Included as one of the island’s many treasures, The Ritz-Carlton is an AAA Five-Diamond Award resort, smothered with southern charm, magnificent scenery and casually elegant surroundings which exemplify the gentle ambiance of the beachfront resort.  The 18-hole PGA championship private golf course which is lined with ancient, moss covered oaks, will challenge even the most skilled golfers.  The hotel offers smoothing spa treatments, culinary explorations with roots in Florida coastal cuisine, pristine beaches, four restaurants, four cocktail lounges, 24-hour fitness center, indoor and outdoor heated pools with whirlpool, on-site tennis facilities, children’s pool and playground, the Ritz Kids® program, as well as the daily cherished heritage Pirate Toast.

The Ritz-Carlton offers a shuttle service to historic downtown Fernandina Beach where you will experience its rich and colorful history.  Shopping on Amelia Island is an experience as unique as its beaches and landscapes. Eat your way around the island’s more than 90 distinctive restaurants, from the finest dining to charming bistros, local favorites, a blend of ethnic influences, and, of course, some of the world’s best and freshest seafood are all on the menu.  Be sure to take some time to bike the Amelia Island Trail; take an unforgettable horseback ride on the beach; pilot your own speedboat on a backwater adventure; paddle and float on the marsh; enjoy an Amelia River Cruise; do some backwater or deep sea fishing; visit historic Fort Clinch and step back to the year 1864, as soldiers reenact life during the Civil War.
